Our 15th top, completed in the dark near a radar station
Last top of day 4 onto the industrial scenes of the old Nottinghamshire coal fields the site being reclaimed land
A bright early morning start, reaching Red Tarn before the masses were up. A chilly ascent of Swirral edge soon left us up in the cloud for the summit
A late afternoon walk up this forlorn hill across the peat bogs and the steep loose ascent to the summit. Beating a hasty descent as the day drew to a close we arrived back at the road as darkness enveloped the valley
An early start on day two of the challenge was rewarded with autumnal mists rolling through the valleys and first class visibility from the tops. Good walk up with the hill to ourselves before the masses
A very boggy ascent over poorly defined paths, made more pleasurable with the sweet smell of the autumn heather providing a bright splash of purple to the otherwise dark hillside
A clear warm afternoon provided perfect conditions for the ascent of the Old Man approaching from the Coniston side. Panoramic views of the Lakes and a good insight to our next walk on Scafell
Having left the Old Man of Coniston and grabbing a chip shop supper we headed out from Wasdale head for the top of Scafell with the sun setting out to the west. On reaching the stream crossing darkness was upon us for the ascent via the scree slope up onto the saddle. Passing the mountain rescue post we were soon on the summit. Following a quick photo stop we made a rapid descent jogging down the main path by torch light
