A 30km training walk from Sea Mills to Portishead Marina and back again. With Rich in attendance on this occasion, the rain came down every time he took his rucksack cover off. Plenty of breaks between showers albeit a little chilly toward the end of the day. Hard going on the feet and legs. @JonnyC: A generally pleasant walk, although the tarmac took it's toll. Started just after 0900hrs and completed in 8.5hrs with a moving average pace a little over 4km/h over the 30km. Great to be out trainin ...
An ODP training walk around Burrington and Blagdon. At last we were able to meet with Rich for this one. Originally destined to be 18km we rerouted on the last leg bringing us down to 16.5km with ascent of 545m. Packs were 13, 10 and 8kg, weather fresh but good. @JonnyC: More ascent than our previous training walks but with a reasonable distance and moderate to light packs. A great chance to catch up with Rich, and a great route he devised also. The weather was kind, and there was even a snippet ...
Waterfalls walk from Porth yr ogof to Sgwd yr Eira and return @RichM: Leaving the bustle of modern life we were off to Wales for the first time together since January 2018, the weather was far warmer as the last trip we had to battle through snow. With MA sporting a new animal, crafted on a trip to Southampton yesterday and rested with a stop over at AL HQ, we popped into visit Ade & Jude for morning tea, interrupted by a fire call we did a supplies stop at Tesco and then onto the motorway, soon to ...

A very dry Swildon trip, dropped down the rift from entrance, Jacobs ladder, short dry way, old grotto, water chamber and return via the wet way @RichM: First caving trip since May 2018 for Rich, after a trial run underground in Swan mine two weeks ago, thanks JC. To warm up I did an hour in the gym with physio’s first, when they asked how I was getting on I stupidly said I was struggling with crawling so they had me going up and down the gym on all fours! A well earned return to subterranea with my long time guide to all things underground, in a gentle amble around Swan Mine @JonnyC: A long awaited, and very pleasing opportunity to get beneath with Underground Rich. After an enforced period of abstinence the day finally arrived to push a boundary and visit the alternative gym. Walk from radio masts up over Beacon Batch 5.5 km in brilliant sunshine with stunning views @RichM: First proper walk for Rich since last September after a prolonged period laid up in the care of the NHS. I am so pleased to have achieved this which in itself doesn’t seem much but 5.5km on rough ground from starting the year bed bound after 70 days in ITU, feels so fantastic, hopefully the first of many, thanks Adam for a brilliant walk, now to the Hunters for tea! @JonnyC: Love the log title, and a seriously good achievement given the journey of recent great to see! Welcome back to AL haha :) @AdamEvans: Always a pleasure, thanks for booking in the sunshine and the 5* food. Next for Camp 2 aka ‘THE bothy’...?
